The private part matters
Privacy Policy
Slide only works if your crush list stays out of sight. This page explains what we collect, why we need it, and the choices you have.
Effective August 3, 2026
What Slide collects
When you connect X or Discord, we receive the platform account ID, handle, display name, profile image, and available verified email address. The provider also gives Slide an authorization token so your account can stay connected. Instagram connection begins with an email sign-in and is verified by sending a short-lived code to the official @slide.fyi Instagram account.
When you use Slide, we store your connected identities, the platform and handles you add, the time you add or remove them, matches, your email-notification setting, blocks, and any safety reports you choose to submit. Instagram verification codes are stored only as SHA-256 digests, expire after ten minutes, and are single-use. Unrelated Instagram DM contents are not retained. We also keep short-lived, hashed request counters to prevent abuse. They do not contain your raw IP address.
If you allow analytics, PostHog receives a random browser identifier, basic browser and device information, and a short list of product events such as opening the add form, connecting a social network, or successfully adding someone. Slide does not send PostHog handles, names, emails, profile images, report reasons or text, messages, or the identity of anyone you add.
How we use it
- To create and secure your Slide account.
- To connect social identities, check available account details, and privately detect mutual choices across platforms.
- To send a match email if you have notifications turned on.
- To enforce the rolling five-person limit and respond to safety issues.
- To keep Slide reliable and prevent automated or abusive use.
- If you choose analytics, to understand whether the core experience is working and which features are useful.
Slide does not sell your personal information. Although X includes read-only post access in its authorization screen, Slide does not read or store your timeline. Slide cannot post, follow, like, or message anyone from your connected accounts.
Who can see a crush
Your crush list is not shown to other users. A person is revealed to you only when you have both added each other. Slide’s trusted server processes both sides to find that mutual choice; the inbound side is never sent to your browser.
Analytics and device storage
Slide uses essential cookies and similar browser storage for sign-in, security, and your privacy choice. These are necessary for the service to work.
PostHog product analytics is optional and stays off unless you select “Allow analytics.” We use deliberately chosen events rather than automatic click or form capture. Session replay, heatmaps, automatic exception capture, and automatic page or input capture are disabled. You can change your choice at any time using the “Privacy choices” button.
How long data stays
Active account data stays while your account is open. Removed crush entries are scheduled for deletion after 31 days; sent email-job records after 90 days; and request counters, Instagram challenge records, and Instagram webhook replay records after two days. Safety reports may be kept as long as reasonably needed to review a concern and protect the service.
Consented analytics is kept only as long as needed to understand and improve the product, subject to the retention period configured in PostHog. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection on that device.
If you delete your account, Slide removes your active account and associated product data. Limited encrypted backups may remain temporarily under our providers’ normal backup schedules.
Your choices
From your account panel you can connect supported platforms, disconnect an individual platform once another verified social identity remains, turn match emails off, download a copy of your Slide data, block or report an account, and delete your account. Disconnecting a platform prevents new choices through that identity from resolving to your account; existing crush and match history remains. The “Privacy choices” button lets you allow or decline optional analytics at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. Email support@slide.fyi and we’ll help.
Age and changes
Slide is for adults aged 18 and older. If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we will update the effective date and provide an appropriate notice.
